What This Standard Means
What Students Need to Do
- Students draw and label basic geometric objects and angle types. They locate parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting features inside two-dimensional figures.
What Mastery Looks Like
- A student draws a line, segment, and ray with correct endpoint markings. The student identifies right, acute, and obtuse angles and supports each label from the drawing.
Common Misconceptions
- Students may use the same markings for lines, segments, and rays. They may call any crossing lines perpendicular or decide angle type from arm length.
How to Assess It
- Give students a blank page and ask them to draw a figure containing one ray, an obtuse angle, and a pair of perpendicular segments.
